Colonial Newspaper Assignment- Advanced Placement - Freedom Social Studies DepartmentTASK-- Create your own “colonial newspapers” with news articles on a variety of colonies as well as editorials, letters to the editor, interviews, advertisements, and cartoons, based on your historical research on colonial America.
1.
You will create one newspaper for the New England Colonies, one for the Middle Colonies, and one for the Southern Colonies. (three total)
2.
Newspapers are to reflect a specific date BEFORE French and Indian War. Each of your three newspapers may have different dates.

3.
Newspapers will include, but are not limited to:
a. Newspaper Masthead or Banner
b. Two articles
c. Editorial
d. Two Letters to the Editor
e. Two Advertisements
f. Political Cartoon

4.
Newspapers will be evaluated for:
a. accurate historical content
b. valid inclusions (people, places, events)
c. demonstrate deep understanding of cultural life and regional differences
d. creativity (in organization and content)
e. originality

Finished products can be handmade or created on Pages, Word, or other computer based formats. If you choose the computer-based method, be careful to create your own, original political cartoon and every other component containing visual.
